Happy Veterans Day!

Thank you to all the Veterans who have served and are serving to keep our country safe. Even though our President is undermining your work. Yes, I voted, so I can complain!
I am now able to upload my WOB block 14 Jephtah's  Daughter. It did turn out nice I think, still can't decide which color way I like the best.
Now back to my Tee Shirt quilt!

Monday, November 3, 2014

Well today I received a box of scraps for the Christmas charm quilt I am wanting to make. The box came from Wendy in LA. I love swapping fabric with ladies in other parts of the country.  I have VERY FEW doubles of Christmas fabric. I am wanting to make a true charm quilt for my couch, big enough for all the boys to use at once. But I don't want doubles of any fabric. I will be sashing each 5x5 charm with black and gold Christmas fabric. Had to take a break from my gr. nephews grad quilt to do a row.  Going to take a lot of Christmas fabric to NOT duplicate! Get challenge... with great friends!

Been a busy week.

Had to take Roger to the Sleep Study doctor, just to find out that his insurance canceled them as a provider! The next day, he went to the ophthalmologist, where they put two shots in his eye. Then we went to OK to attend a memorial service for my friend Kelly Bateman's husband Dennis. He passed away Monday after a long battle with cancer. While getting ready to go, I found out my friend LaDonna Gilliam, who we lost to cancer last year, her husband Mike passed away from Cancer on Tuesday.   That is such a vicious disease. I think of my friend Audrey often who fought harder thank anyone I know for nearly 10 years, her cancer started as breast cancer. They got rid of that for it to come back and finally take her life on April 24.  Anyway! I finished Block 12 of the Women of the Bible Series, JUDITH. I know this is not in our bibles but is in the Apocrypha, but it states it is listed in other versions. She was a female sort of female version of David and Goliath.  Both Colorways completed before the other comes out on Monday!

Well today, I sewed the two Naomi blocks together, here they are!
So tickled how they turned out. Really I like the "scrappy" browns I am using rather than the Teal/Paisley I purchased! I hope I can at least find more of the dark browns at Hobby Lobby tomorrow.
We did our usual school run today. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays we get to pick up the three wonderful grandsons at their schools. (one in pre school, Owen, two, Cole grade 4 and Gage who is in Kindergarten) at in elementary school. Of course they always want to come spend the night, but couldn't bring them home tonight, we have 1 early appointment in the morning, and that would be just way too much driving.

I Hope to get back to working on Kyle's senior quilt now that my blocks are done for the week. I did send out a call for 5x5" Christmas charms. I want to make myself a Christmas charm quilt for my couch with no two fabrics alike. I have some beautiful black/gold Christmas fabric I purchased several years ago to use as a film strip sashing between the charms. In my minds eye it will look pretty!

Ok, one more try at blogging.. I will TRY to be consistent!

Yesterday,  we ate dinner at John &Carol's. We celebrated John's 65th, Emily's 15th, (I think), Kim's 35th and my 61st birthdays. Great bar b que and cakes for each of the birthday people! Before we left, I finished up My 10th block of the Women of the Bible weekly series I am doing with an online group from about.com. I took individual pictures of the blocks, but I will not post them. I am doing two quilts at a time. Here is what I have so far. The blocks go live online each Monday the finished quilt blocks is supposed to resemble this
Mine are in these two color ways

Happy New Year 2014 (5 Days late)

Well, as usual, I am late. Wonder why I am getting late at things? When I was younger I HATED being late at anything...That's it! AGE, I turned 60 in September 2013.

This year HAS to be better than the last half of 2013.
I have started Bonnie Hunter's Annual Mystery Quilt, I have never done one of hers. So far I love it, and I know how it turns out, since I didn't get to go along with the others due to Roger's hospitalization for kidney problems.
I  finished the Chevrons earlier this morning. Have started working full time on the four squares, which I had been doing as leaders and enders. The colors are scrappy: Green, Orange, Blue, Yellow and Neutrals. She based the pattern on things she saw in Ireland and named it Celtic Solstice. Which the first clue was put out on our Winter Solstice, which happened to be my brother Jim's 63 birthday.
Well, back to sewing.
Hope to keep this blog up better this year, I know, I say that every year.

Roger is home from the hospital with a Foley Catheter trying to let his bladder shrink back to its normal size after the hospital drained  over four litres of urine from him in the first two hours after they put the catheter in.  I was SO worried about him, more than I have been in years. He was talking out of his head, jerking so bad, he couldn't draw up his insulin, nor even put pills in his mouth. I thought it was all due to one of the many falls he had that week. But it was the poison from the urine since the kidneys were only working at 12%. He is pretty much back to normal now, except for the cath.

Now I can begin.. Nearly a week late on the Celtic Mystery by Bonnie Hunter

My die and the tri rec ruler came yesterday, and I finished ironing the blues, oranges and neutrals. I am going to start today, even though I am nearly a week late! Will do what I can before we move onto Clue 2 tomorrow. I tried to put her button on my blog, but can't figure it out, wish I was a little more computer savvy!  I am also cooking a 16 lb turkey Kim bought. We are haveing our Thankings giving dinner since we were in Oklahoma.
